Rose Taylor earned her Master of Fine Arts in Dance from The University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in early childhood education and pointe preparation. Prior to completing her MFA in Ballet as a graduate assistant, Ms. Taylor was principal of the Lower School at Kansas City Ballet School where she was integral in the development and implementation of the school’s syllabus, choreography, program development and staging works for the Kansas City Youth Ballet and children in Todd Bolender's The Nutcracker.
Her earliest dance education was with Jane Pierce of the Somerset Ballet School, Karen Brown and James Jordan of the Kansas City Ballet School in addition to study at the School of American Ballet and Joffrey Ballet School. Ms. Taylor danced with Kansas City Ballet before continuing her training at Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy with esteemed faculty including Steve Brule, Clara Cravey and Claudio Munoz. She then became an instructor for Houston Ballet’s Lower School, assisting in developing curriculum for young dancers and teaching in the school’s Education and Community Engagement program. During her tenure at Houston Ballet Academy she also performed as a frequent guest artist and created afterschool programs throughout the Houston and Kansas City metropolitan areas. She later returned to Kansas City to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance, graduating cum laude at The University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Ms. Taylor’s performing credits include: principal roles in Antony Tudor's Dark Elegiesand Continuo; George Balanchine's Serenade, Alvin Ailey's The River, La Bayadère, Le Corsaire, The Nutcracker, Raymonda pas de dix, La Vivandière, the world premiere of Haydn’s The Seasons at the Internationale Haydntage Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria and original works by Hilary Cartwright, Clara Cravey, DeeAnna Hiett, Mary Margaret Holt, Ilya Kozadayev, Jeremy Lindberg, Ronald Tice, Paula Weber, and William Whitener.
