Kathryn Bennetts, renowned teacher & stager of Forsythe works, discusses how to hold one’s arms with energy & how to connect the arms to the back.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Kathryn Bennetts studied at the Scully Borovansky School of Ballet and at the Australian Ballet School. She then joined the Australian Ballet and then Stuttgart Ballet under the direction of Marcia Haydée. During her nine years with the Stuttgart Ballet she danced a large repertoire of soloist roles. Ms.Bennetts began teaching at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart and then at the National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. During this time, she also guest taught for countless companies worldwide. In 1989 William Forsythe invited her to join the Frankfurt Ballet as ballet mistress. For the next 15 years she was responsible for the daily class and rehearsals for the company. Ms. Bennetts has staged William Forsythe’s ballets for companies all over the world. In 2005, she became the Artistic Director of the Royal Ballet of Flanders and in her seven years as Artistic Director the company achieved astounding success. Currently Ms. Bennetts travels the world staging ballets for William Forsythe, guest teaching, and coaching.
